As bolas de golfe Featherie tamb\u00e9m apresentavam um revestimento externo de couro, mas em vez de pelo de vaca ou palha, eram preenchidas com penas. Devido \u00e0 maciez das penas, os fabricantes das bolas de golfe Featherie conseguiram ench\u00ea-las de forma muito compacta, o que, por sua vez, produziu uma bola de golfe mais dura e com maior alcance de voo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Al\u00e9m disso, as bolas de golfe Featherie tamb\u00e9m mantiveram seu formato melhor devido ao interior compacto. Robertson foi mentor do grande Tom Morris desde os 14 anos e, juntos, a dupla revolucionou a ind\u00fastria de equipamentos de golfe na \u00e9poca. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A bola de golfe Gutty surgiu em meados do s\u00e9culo XIX. Morris preferia a Gutty \u00e0 Featherie e, como resultado dessa discuss\u00e3o, Morris e Robertson se separaram. A Gutty era f\u00e1cil de fazer, barata e oferecia aerodin\u00e2mica avan\u00e7ada em compara\u00e7\u00e3o com a Featherie.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No final do s\u00e9culo XIX, os designers da bola de golfe Gutty come\u00e7aram a experimentar diferentes formatos na bola com a ajuda de um molde, na busca por melhorar a aerodin\u00e2mica da bola.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Em 1898, Coburn Haskell, superintendente\/gerente de campo da BF Goodrich Company em Akron, Ohio, descobriu a bola de borracha por acidente. Haskell estava esperando em uma oficina e, enquanto esperava, enrolou um fio de borracha em uma bola redonda.
